About Me
I’m an East Coast based actor/singer with a strong preference for social justice works. I believe art exists to be a voice for all peoples; in that vein I am dedicated to both supporting and uplifting the marginalized and staying open and honest on my personal journey towards anti-racism.
Wanna hear a secret? I don’t like to talk. “But Lauren, “ you say, “You’re an actor, how does that work?” As a kid, I relied primarily on expression to communicate and my big, round, alien eyes let me get away with being The Unusually Quiet One.
As an adult, I’ve found my actor niche in offbeat idiosyncratic roles ranging from highly nuanced to fully ostentatious – while remaining loyal to the heart of the character. When my characters choose to speak, it’s with purpose.
I received my M.F.A. in Acting from The New School for Drama under the mentorship of Ron Leibman, Cotter Smith, Joe Grifasi, Peter Jay Fernandez, and others of note. In my off time I love to explore hiking trails with my pibble Penelope. I also work diligently to uphold my status as a connoisseur of all Chinese take-out within a five-mile radius of my home, (I have a short list of excellent boxed wine pairings for many of my favorite orders – feel free to ask!).
I have an addiction to cheese, and I believe that competitive binge-watching should be an Olympic sport.
“…a force to be reckoned with…”
“…standout performance…engaging and believable.”
“…Lauren D. Salvo is magnetically engaging.”
